American Tourister Luggage Fieldbrook II 3 Piece Set

Going on a trip, whether for a vacation, personal or business purposes, is probably one of the most thrilling things to do.

You can say whatever you want, but it’s either the journey, such as riding a ferry or a plane, or the destination, like Venice in Italy or the Machu Picchu citadel in Peru, is what makes traveling truly enjoyable. However, traveling comes with the burden of bringing huge amounts of stuff which may make the expedition a little bit cumbersome.

In this regard, choosing and carrying the right kind of luggage bag would alleviate any hindrance it may take from carrying the necessities for any travel.

The American Tourister Luggage Fieldbrook II 3 Piece Set is a luggage set you may want to consider using during a business trip or a family vacation.

For an overview, the American Tourister luggage brand is owned by the Samsonite corporation. Samsonite is a luggage manufacturer that is known for their large suitcases, toiletry bags and small briefcases. With that in mind, we should expect quality-assured suitcases from these brands.

The American Tourister Luggage Fieldbrook II 3 Piece Set is as durable as they come thanks to its 100% polyester construction. Its design comes with reinforced corners that help withstand damage coming from any day-to-day use or tossing during baggage handling.

Aside from durability, this also makes the luggage bags extremely lightweight, weighing around 15 pounds collectively for all the three bags. We would say that the set is lighter than some individual suitcases we have recently owned.

The set comes in three different colors and patterns: black, wood violet and red. Having different options in terms of color is a plus, particularly for people with matching color preferences.

The suitcases are built with a retractable mono-tube handle which is placed inside an EVA housing. The handles can be locked when extended, providing easy maneuverability during walking, or pushed down and secured when stored during your flight.

As mentioned, the set comes in three separate bags. It includes two rolling suitcases and one tote bag. The larger rolling suitcases are approximately 24 x 16 x 8 and 21 x 14 x 17 inches, whereas the carry-on is decently sized at around 15 x 10 x 8 inches.

This feature allows you to organize your items in separate suitcases, while holding your travel necessities inside the carry-on. In addition, a family of three can also take advantage in such a way that each can bring a bag of their own on a simple family day trip.

What we liked most about this luggage set is that it boasts room for expansion. As a traveler, we cannot help but cram a lot of things inside our suitcases prior to traveling.

During our trips, it is inevitable that we pick up items along the way, such as souvenirs, which we would have to place inside our already-crammed bags; therefore, an additional or expandable space is convenient when we are trying to squeeze in one last item into our bags.

Confusion seems to be a common occurrence when buying the Fieldbrook II luggage set. This is because this set appears very similar, in terms of looks and naming, to the higher-end, more expensive American Tourister Brookfield line.

The Fieldbrook II is the more economically priced option, and thus its features are expected to be of lower grade, yet some consumers expect more, thinking that it comes from the Brookfield line.

Newer versions of this set do not come with the reinforcing strap that covers the outside found in its predecessors. As an added feature, however, the recent versions have sturdier feet that allow the luggage to balance when placed upright.

Although the set boasts an inner lining of fabric, we found that this fabric is loosely fitted inside and haphazardly stitched. In addition, it looks and feels more like paper than fabric. Despite these issues, the fabric lining still improves the overall wear-resistance of the bags.

We also found that the retractable handles on the bags appear fragile and wobbly when extended or when the bag is being pulled. This, however, is a dismissible trait even though it could lead users to believe that the handle is not made of durable construction.

All in all, the American Tourister is a renowned brand and the Fieldbrook II is a decent and affordable luggage set that holds up pretty well. Its value for money is second to none, making it suitable for those who want a reasonable, yet long-lasting set of luggage.
